Elasticum® thread is a non-absorbable elastic thread specifically designed for facial rejuvenation procedures (elasticum® face-lift). Suspensive facial procedures carried out by means of threads, without blunt dissection of the tissues, use nylon, polypropylene, prolene, goretex and other synthetic materials. However, our experiments with these threads have left us unsatisfied. It is for this reason that the Elasticum® suture was designed. The Jano needle®, together with the Elasticum® thread, provides atraumatic suture that is suited to a new type of face-lifting procedure, one that yields long-lasting results and causes minimal trauma (it requires from 2 to 10 incisions of 3 mm hidden in the hair, to bury the knot and fix the thread).

Fig. 1.  Before, and three months after, elasticum face-lift without blunt dissection of the skin. A total of eight elastic threads, four per side, have been positioned by means of four small incisions (2+2). The Jano needle®. has enabled the Elasticum®. thread to be positioned at the required depth without any further incision. This out-patient procedure lasted about 1 hour. A local anaesthetic was administered along the route of the thread, immediately below the skin. The patient went home without any visible medication.

Prima e dopo. Dopo sei mesi è apprezzabile l'eccellente risultato di confronto.

Mounted on a normal atraumatic surgical needle, the Elasticum® thread has also been used in traditional lifting procedures, in which it can advantageously substitute the techniques of SMAS manipulation. As well as obviating the risks connected with these surgical procedures, the elastic thread enables a natural, long-lasting result to be achieved.
